World Oil Proved Reserves as of 2012. We prepare the figure based upon the numbers listed in the data source. See Sueyoshi and Goto (2017). The figure excludes an amount of Canadian oil sands and Venezuela’s Orinoco Belt. The shale oil reserve is also excluded from the figure. The largest shale oil reserve exists in China and the second is the USA.
